Project Information:

DAC-2018-01 is a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth (NFMR) project located in the remote Balonne Shire of South West Queensland. Situated approximately 80km southwest of the town of Bollon and just north of the New South Wales border, the project covers a substantial area of 2,455 hectares. Registered in April 2018, the site is positioned within the Mulga Lands bioregion, an area traditionally utilized for pastoral grazing and sheep farming.

The project operates under the Native Forest from Managed Regrowth methodology. This framework is designed for land that has previously undergone comprehensive clearing for pastoral use. Unlike other regeneration methods that focus on suppressing grazing pressure, NFMR projects primarily involve the cessation of mechanical or chemical clearing activities (such as chaining or poisoning) that would otherwise prevent native vegetation from re-establishing. By stopping these destruction cycles, the project allows the forest to regenerate from in-situ seed sources, rootstock, and lignotubers.

Environmentally, the region is characterized by a semi-arid climate with variable, often low, rainfall. The landscape typically features red earth soils and cracking clays, supporting vegetation types such as Mulga (Acacia aneura) woodlands and eucalypt shrublands. The project has successfully generated over 34,000 Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) to date. The proponent, Devine Agribusiness Carbon Pty Ltd, has been identified in industry reports as a portfolio company acquired by GreenCollar, a major player in the Australian environmental markets.
