Duff Carbon Farming Project

Project Information:

The Duff Carbon Farming Project is a Human-Induced Regeneration (HIR) project located in the Paroo Shire of South West Queensland. Based on the project coordinates, the site is situated approximately 60km northeast of Cunnamulla and 100km west of Bollon. The project operates within the Mulga Lands bioregion, an area characterized by semi-arid conditions, red earth soils, and extensive Mulga (Acacia aneura) woodlands.

Registered in October 2017, the project covers a substantial area of 22,308 hectares. The primary land use in this region is grazing for sheep and cattle, which historically involved the suppression of regrowth to maintain pasture. As a Human-Induced Regeneration project, the activities involve managing grazing pressure (likely through fencing or strategic timing) and ceasing mechanical clearing to allow native forests to regenerate from in-situ seed sources and rootstock.

The project is operated by Paniri Holdings Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of the project developer Corporate Carbon. According to Climate Active disclosures, the project is designed to protect an 18km stretch of land along the banks of the Paroo River system, which feeds into the Ramsar-listed wetlands of the Currawinya Lakes, suggesting the property may have significant river frontage or ecological connectivity to this vital waterway.
