Project Information:

COzero Building Energy Efficiency Aggregation Project (Revoked) was an energy efficiency aggregation project managed by COzero Pty Ltd. Registered in October 2015, the project did not operate in a single geographic location. Instead, it functioned as an "aggregation," bundling activities across multiple commercial buildings eligible for NABERS energy ratings, likely situated in major Australian metropolitan centers such as Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane.

The project operated under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative-Commercial Buildings) Methodology Determination 2015. This methodology credits emissions reductions achieved through energy efficiency upgrades in commercial buildings, such as installing Building Management Systems (BMS), upgrading HVAC (air conditioning and chillers), and retrofitting lighting systems. By aggregating these activities, the proponent aimed to generate Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) from the combined energy savings of multiple sites, a strategy often used to make smaller efficiency upgrades financially viable.

Because the project activities took place within the built environment (indoor commercial spaces), traditional environmental classifications like rainfall or soil type are not applicable. The project focused entirely on industrial and commercial infrastructure rather than land management.

Notably, the project was revoked on December 18, 2020, under section 32 of the CFI Rule. COzero, the proponent, is a well-known Australian energy technology company that developed the "EnergyLink" platform, software designed to help businesses visualize and manage energy usage. The revocation likely indicates a strategic decision to withdraw the project, possibly due to the administrative complexity of maintaining the aggregation or a shift in business focus, as no ACCUs were issued to this project prior to its revocation.
