Out Performers Aggregated Lighting Project
ERF102111
Project Information:
Out Performers Aggregated Lighting Project is an energy efficiency project that operates as an aggregated activity across multiple commercial and industrial sites, rather than a single geographic location. Originally developed by Out Performers, a consultancy specializing in energy productivity which was acquired by ERM Power in 2018 (and subsequently by Shell Energy in 2019), the project is now managed by Shell Energy Trading. It was registered in October 2015.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative-Commercial and Public Lighting) Methodology Determination 2015. This methodology credits emissions reductions achieved by replacing inefficient lighting systems (such as halogen, mercury vapor, or metal halide lamps) with more efficient alternatives like LED luminaires. Because the project focuses on reducing electricity consumption from the grid at various built facilities, standard environmental metrics such as rainfall or soil type are not applicable.
A key feature of this project is its "aggregated" nature, which bundles together numerous small-scale lighting upgrades from different properties into a single project to maximize administrative efficiency and carbon abatement volume. This approach allows large energy users to generate Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) by systematically upgrading lighting infrastructure across their property portfolios.
