Project Information:

Darling River Eco Corridor 22 (Revoked) is an Avoided Deforestation project located on the "Patricia Vale" property, approximately 60km west of Nyngan and 100km southeast of Cobar in the Orana region of New South Wales. The project was registered in March 2015 and covers an area of roughly 5,420 hectares. Originally named the "Patricia Vale Native Forest Protection Project," it was renamed in May 2015 before being voluntarily revoked in December 2017.

The project operated under the Avoided Deforestation methodology, which is designed for landholders who hold a distinct clearing consent issued prior to July 1, 2010. The core activity involves protecting native forest that the landowner legally had the right to clear for agricultural purposes, such as cropping or pasture. By surrendering the right to clear this land, the project prevents the release of carbon stored in the vegetation.

The region surrounding the project area is part of the Western Division of NSW, characterized by a semi-arid climate with variable rainfall. The land use in this area is predominantly rangeland grazing for sheep, goats, and cattle, with some opportunistic dryland cropping on suitable red earth and red loam soils common to the Cobar Peneplain. The project was managed by Terra Carbon Pty Limited and appears to have been part of a broader portfolio of "Darling River Eco Corridor" initiatives, many of which were similarly established and revoked during this period.
