Woodside Native Reforestation Project - Phase 10

Project Information:
Woodside Native Reforestation Project - Phase 10 is an environmental planting project located across multiple sites in the Western Australian Wheatbelt, spanning from approximately 200km north-northeast of Perth near the town of Wubin, to 280km east-northeast of Perth near Westonia. It was registered in February 2026 and covers 1246.53 ha.
Environmental planting projects involve establishing permanent plantings of native trees or mallee species to sequester carbon. Under the Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings methodology, the planted species must be established at densities sufficient to achieve forest cover, which standardly requires reaching at least 2 metres in height and a 20% crown cover (often requiring a planting density of around 200 stems per hectare).
The Western Australian Wheatbelt area is known for extensive broadacre dryland agriculture, primarily wheat cropping and sheep grazing. The region is considered semi-arid with low, winter-dominant rainfall, and its soils are generally sandy loams, duplex clays (sand over clay), and lateritic gravels.
This project specifically establishes permanent plantings consisting of mallee eucalypt species and a mix of native tree and shrub species that are local to the planting areas. The species mix is carefully selected to reflect the natural structure and composition of the local native vegetation community. This provides a significant ecological benefit by restoring local biodiversity alongside carbon sequestration efforts managed by the proponent, Woodside Energy Carbon (Services) Pty Ltd.
