SoilRegen Elmgrove Carbon Project

Project Information:
SoilRegen Elmgrove Carbon Project is a soil carbon sequestration project located at Blakney Creek, approximately 30km north of Yass in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. Registered in December 2025, the project covers 220 hectares of agricultural land managed by Rivercrest Environment Pty Ltd.
The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon "Measurement and Models" methodology, which credits landholders for increasing Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) stocks. This specific project focuses on addressing nutrient deficiencies in the soil by applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilisers to stimulate plant growth and carbon drawdown. To verify carbon increases, the project will rely on a combination of physical soil sampling and modelled estimates over time.
The Blakney Creek region is characterized by a temperate climate with reliable rainfall, typically supporting pasture-based grazing operations. The proponent, Rivercrest Environment, is known to trade feeder steers, indicating the land is used for cattle grazing. The soils in this part of the Southern Tablelands are often derived from granite and sedimentary rock, forming sandy to clay loams that respond well to nutrient management for improved pasture biomass and carbon retention. Precision Pastures Pty Ltd is listed as a participant, likely providing the agronomic and soil testing expertise required for the project's compliance.
