Project Information:

Golspie Carbon Project 2025 is a plantation forestry project located near the rural locality of Golspie, approximately 25 kilometers northeast of Taralga in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. Registered in October 2025, the project covers a substantial area of 1,591 hectares. The surrounding region is traditionally utilized for sheep and cattle grazing, though it has an established presence of commercial forestry due to its favorable growing conditions.

The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022. This methodology credits carbon sequestered in trees within plantation forests that are established for commercial harvest. Unlike environmental plantings which are permanent, this project involves establishing new timber plantations (likely softwood species such as Radiata Pine, common in the region) where carbon is stored in the wood product and the trees are replanted after harvest.

Environmentally, the Golspie region is classified as a high-rainfall zone, receiving an annual average rainfall of approximately 850mm to 900mm, which supports robust timber growth. The terrain typically features rolling hills with soils that are generally acidic loams and clays derived from sedimentary and basaltic parent material.

The proponent, "The Trust Company Limited as trustee for ANZLAFF Sub 1," indicates the project is an asset of the Australia New Zealand Landscapes and Forestry Fund (ANZLAFF). This fund is managed by New Forests, a global investment manager specializing in nature-based real assets. ANZLAFF targets integrated investments across forestry and agriculture, aiming to combine commercial timber production with carbon sequestration and biodiversity outcomes.
