Kia Ora

Project Information:

Kia Ora is a soil carbon project located on the "Kia Ora Aggregation," a significant agricultural property approximately 15km north of Bendemeer in the New England region of New South Wales. Registered in November 2025, the project covers a substantial area of 6,151 hectares.

The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, which incentivizes landholders to adopt management changes that sequester carbon in agricultural soils. For Kia Ora, these activities focus on altering stocking rates and grazing intensity to improve soil health and vegetation cover. The property itself is a mixed farming and grazing operation, historically running cattle and sheep. The aggregation, which includes the additional holdings of "Birralee," "Banalasta," and "Burlington," was noted in market listings as having a carrying capacity of approximately 1,500 cows.

Environmentally, the region is characterized by the high rainfall typical of the New England Tablelands, with the property averaging around 800mm (32 inches) annually. The landscape consists of undulating grazing country and steeper timbered hills, with soils predominantly composed of fine and coarse granite. These conditions are generally favorable for pasture growth and, consequently, the potential for soil carbon sequestration through improved grazing management.
