Bonnington Soil Carbon Project Allynbrook
ERF203734
Project Information:
Bonnington Soil Carbon Project Allynbrook is a soil carbon sequestration project located in Allynbrook, approximately 45km north of Maitland in the Hunter Region of New South Wales. Registered in June 2025, the project operates on the "Bonnington" property, covering 585 hectares of agricultural land known for cattle grazing. The property has a history of agricultural innovation, having previously hosted "Future Paddock" field days to demonstrate ag-tech and rotational grazing techniques.
The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology (Measurement and Models), which credits farmers for measured increases in soil organic carbon. To achieve this, the project involves altering the stocking rate, duration, or intensity of grazing to promote vegetation cover and improve soil health. The Allynbrook region benefits from a generally high rainfall climate (averaging over 900mm annually) and features productive soils, including alluvial deposits along the Allyn River and clay-loams on the surrounding slopes, which are favorable conditions for building soil carbon.
