The Sisters Grassy Woodlands Restoration Project

Project Information:
The Sisters Grassy Woodlands Restoration Project is an environmental planting project located near Adaminaby along Caddigat Road in the Snowy Monaro region of New South Wales, approximately 50km northwest of Cooma. It was registered in May 2025 and covers 216.61 hectares. The surrounding area is historically known for agricultural land use such as merino sheep grazing, as well as trout fishing and tourism driven by the nearby Lake Eucumbene and Murrumbidgee River.
This project operates under the 2024 Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings (FullCAM) methodology. Environmental planting projects of this type involve establishing permanent forests by planting a mix of native tree and shrub species that reflect the local vegetation community. To meet standard regulatory and modeling requirements under FullCAM, typical block plantings must achieve a minimum density of 200 stems per hectare.
The Adaminaby and Dry Plain region experiences a moderate tableland climate, with average annual rainfall generally falling between 430mm and 700mm. The local geology is characterized by the Adaminaby Group's sedimentary rocks, creating a variety of soil types including skeletal grey loams, siltstone, and gravelly clays, interspersed with Granite and Basalt outcrops.
Greenprint Caddigat Pty Ltd acts as the proponent for the project, aiming to establish and maintain a permanent mixed-species planting that mimics the native grassy woodlands native to the area. An interesting detail about this specific property and project is its connection to significant local restoration efforts; recently, Greening Australia and impact investors purchased land along Caddigat Road and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Wolgalu Nation to respectfully restore the land and heal the Country together. The project also noted a variation on August 20, 2025, to amend the listed project areas.
