Rosedale Soil Carbon Project
ERF201512
Project Information:
Rosedale Soil Carbon Project is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the rural locality of Bevendale, approximately 35km east of Boorowa in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales. The project was registered in March 2025 and covers a project area of roughly 702 hectares.
The Boorowa and Bevendale region is historically renowned for fine wool production and mixed grazing. The landscape typically experiences a temperate climate with winter-dominant rainfall, averaging between 600mm and 700mm annually. Soils in this catchment are often characterized as Chromosols (Yellow Podzolics) or Dermosols, which can be susceptible to acidity, a common land management challenge in the area that this project may indirectly help address through improved soil health.
Operating under the 2021 Soil Carbon "Measurement and Models" methodology, the project aims to increase soil organic carbon stocks by modifying grazing strategies. This involves altering the stocking rate, duration, or intensity of grazing to encourage better vegetation cover. By moving away from set stocking to more strategic rotational grazing, the proponent, Carbon Fix Pty Limited, aims to maximize biomass production and sequester carbon deep within the soil profile. This methodology requires rigorous physical soil sampling to establish a baseline before crediting can commence.
