Truss Carbon Project

Project Information:

Truss Carbon Project is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the Upper Murray region of Victoria, approximately 10km north-west of the township of Corryong. Registered in August 2025, the project covers a land area of roughly 176 hectares within the Towong Shire. The site sits in close proximity to the Murray River, a region characterized by fertile river valleys and rolling slopes traditionally used for beef and dairy cattle grazing.

The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology (Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models). This method requires the project proponent to establish a baseline of soil carbon levels through physical testing, then implement new management activities designed to increase those levels over time. Specific activities for the Truss Carbon Project include altering stocking rates to improve vegetation cover, applying nutrients to address soil deficiencies, and rejuvenating pastures through seeding. Credits are issued based on the measured increase in soil carbon stocks relative to the baseline.

The environmental context of the Upper Murray supports these activities, with the region enjoying a relatively high rainfall classification compared to inland Australia, typically exceeding 700mm annually. The local soil composition generally consists of alluvial loams and clays on the river flats, transitioning to sandy loams and granitic soils on the rising slopes. The project is managed by Agriprove Solutions, a prominent aggregator in the Australian carbon market, facilitating the project's compliance and reporting.
