Project Information:

Wilyun Pools Environmental Plantings Project is an environmental planting project located approximately 80km northeast of Albany in Western Australia. It was registered in July 2024 and covers an area of 119.75 hectares.

Environmental planting projects under the FullCAM methodology involve establishing permanent plantings of mixed native tree species. These standard projects generally require planting at a density of at least 200 stems per hectare to ensure the site eventually achieves a mature forest canopy cover of at least 20%.

The region northeast of Albany, falling within the City of Albany local government area, is heavily utilised for broadacre agriculture, primarily sheep grazing and grain cropping. The area experiences a moderate Mediterranean rainfall climate, and its environmental profile is generally characterised by sandy loams and gravelly duplex soils.

This project was established to restore native vegetation by planting species indigenous to the local area on land that had been used predominantly for agriculture for at least five years prior to commencement. In February 2026, the project underwent a participant variation, formally transferring from Carbon Neutral Pty Ltd to Jarrah Climate Pty Ltd as Trustee for the Jarrah Climate Trust. Interestingly, the same property also hosts "Wilyun Pools 2022," a separate, older carbon project run by the same proponent that transitions existing plantation forestry into permanent forest, highlighting a broad, multi-method transition toward long-term carbon conservation on the land.
