Waterhole South' Environmental Planting Project
ERF193969
Project Information:
Waterhole South' Environmental Planting Project is an environmental planting project located in the Rollands Plains locality, approximately 30km northwest of Port Macquarie in New South Wales. Registered in September 2024, the project covers 19.25 hectares of land that was historically used for agricultural purposes, such as grazing, for at least five years prior to commencement.
Environmental planting projects under the 2014 methodology involve establishing permanent plantings of mixed native tree species, typically at densities sufficient to achieve forest cover and permanently store carbon. The project proponent, Carbon Fix Pty Limited, manages the site with a 25-year permanence period, ensuring the trees remain protected for at least that duration.
The Port Macquarie-Hastings region is known for its high rainfall and productive agricultural landscape, supporting industries like cattle farming and forestry. The local environment features fertile soils, often consisting of clays and loams derived from the region's diverse geology. This project complements the broader effort to integrate carbon sequestration with existing land management practices in this coastal hinterland area.
