Annadale Project 01

Annadale Project 01 is an environmental planting project located in the rural locality of Annadale, South Australia. The site is situated approximately 15 kilometers southwest of the township of Blanchetown and the Murray River, near the junction of the Sturt Highway and Halfway House Road. Registered in March 2024, the project covers a small area of just under 39 hectares.

The project operates under the Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings methodology (FullCAM). This involves establishing permanent plantings of native tree species on land that was previously used for agricultural purposes, such as dryland grazing or cropping, for at least five years prior to commencement. The methodology requires the planting to achieve "forest cover" status, defined as vegetation with the potential to reach a height of at least 2 meters and a canopy cover of 20% over the area. Carbon abatement is calculated using the Full Carbon Accounting Model (FullCAM) rather than direct field measurement.

The Mid Murray region is characterized by a semi-arid climate with low annual rainfall, typically averaging between 250mm and 300mm. The local environment features calcareous earths and sandy loam soils common to the Mallee region. The proponent, Environmental Advice Pty Ltd, is an environmental consultancy firm that has also been involved in environmental management planning for other South Australian infrastructure developments, such as the Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex.
