Lindsay Carbon Project 7

Project Information:
Lindsay Carbon Project 7 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 30 kilometers west of the town of Augathella in South West Queensland. Registered in March 2024, the project covers a land area of roughly 319 hectares within the Murweh Shire. The region is situated in the Mulga Lands bioregion, an area traditionally dominated by grazing operations for sheep and cattle, characterized by its flat to undulating plains and acacia scrubland.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models) Methodology Determination 2021. This methodology requires the proponent to effect a change in land management, such as altering stocking rates, grazing intensity, or introducing multi-species pasture, to encourage the buildup of organic carbon in the soil profile. As an AgriProve project, it likely utilizes a combination of physical soil core sampling and remote sensing technology to model and verify carbon stock increases over time.
Environmentally, the site lies in a semi-arid zone with an average annual rainfall of approximately 530mm, which is summer-dominant. The soils in this vicinity, particularly associated with Mulga vegetation, are typically Kandosols (massive red earths) or texture-contrast Chromosols. These soils are generally low in fertility but can respond well to improved management practices that maintain ground cover and retain moisture, which are critical components of the soil carbon project activities.
