Lawrence Carbon Project 1

Project Information:
Lawrence Carbon Project 1 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 12km northwest of Three Springs in the Mid West region of Western Australia. Registered on September 18, 2024, the project covers a land area of roughly 358 hectares. The project is managed by Agriprove Solutions Co No.2 Pty Ltd, a special purpose vehicle of the major carbon developer Agriprove.
The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon (Measurement and Models) methodology, which credits landholders for increasing Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) stocks. To achieve this, the project has implemented specific land management activities including the application of synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address nutrient deficiencies, the introduction of cover crops to improve vegetation cover, and the use of legume species within cropping or pasture systems. These activities are designed to boost biomass production and return more organic matter to the soil.
The Three Springs region is a prominent agricultural hub situated within the Northern Agricultural Region (NAR) of Western Australia. The area typically supports broadacre mixed farming, including the cultivation of wheat, canola, and lupins, alongside sheep grazing. The local environment is characterized by a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters, receiving an average annual rainfall of approximately 350mm to 400mm. The soils in this district vary from the "sandplain" types (deep sands and sandy earths), which are often naturally nutrient-deficient, aligning with the project's focus on nutrient application, to heavier red loams in the valleys.
