Vincentia Regeneration Project

Project Information:
Vincentia Regeneration Project is a Human-Induced Regeneration (HIR) project located approximately 16km northwest of the rural town of Bollon in South West Queensland. Registered in September 2023, the project covers a substantial area of 5,072 hectares within the Balonne Shire. The property, "Vincentia," has been identified as part of the Wyuna regenerative agriculture platform, a major aggregation backed by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and other investors aimed at integrating sustainable grazing with natural capital projects.
The project operates under the Human-Induced Regeneration methodology, which involves regenerating native forests on land where vegetation has been historically suppressed. Rather than planting new trees, the project activities focus on assisting the natural regeneration of in-situ seed sources, such as rootstock and lignotubers, by managing the timing and extent of livestock grazing and ceasing mechanical clearing. This allows the native forest cover to re-establish itself over time, sequestering carbon in the process.
The project area is situated in a semi-arid climatic zone, typical of the Mulga Lands bioregion, with an average annual rainfall of approximately 460mm. The landscape in this region is generally characterized by flat to undulating plains supporting Mitchell and Flinders grass downs, often associated with cracking clay soils, alongside ridges of red earth commonly hosting Mulga vegetation. The region is predominantly used for sheep and cattle grazing, a land use that the project aims to continue sustainably alongside its carbon sequestration activities.
An interesting facet of this project is its inclusion in the Wyuna aggregation, which seeks to demonstrate the viability of blending agricultural production with carbon farming on a large scale. The Vincentia property acts as a "grazing and natural capital powerhouse," contributing to a broader portfolio expected to generate millions of Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) while maintaining a significant herd of cattle.
