Landari Yea 2022

Project Information:
Landari Yea 2022 is a plantation forestry project located approximately 20km north of the township of Yea, within the Murrindindi Shire of Victoria. Registered on November 30, 2023, the project covers a total area of 59.13 hectares. The surrounding region lies within the foothills of the Strathbogie Ranges, an area traditionally utilized for cattle and sheep grazing as well as forestry operations. The environment typically experiences moderate to high rainfall, often exceeding 700mm annually, and features soils predominantly composed of granitic sandy loams and friable clay loams characteristic of the ranges.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022, specifically focusing on the "transition to permanent forest" activity (Schedule 4). This methodology allows proponents to earn carbon credits by retaining plantation trees that were otherwise at risk of being harvested and converted into non-forested land, such as agricultural pasture. By legally protecting the timber from harvest and maintaining the forest cover permanently, the project ensures long-term carbon sequestration. The proponent, Landari Pty Ltd, is a specialized carbon project developer managing a portfolio of similar plantation retention projects across Victoria and Tasmania.
