Tuinaitasiri Axedale Planting Project
ERF182693
Project Information:
The Tuinaitasiri Axedale Planting Project is an environmental planting project located in Axedale, a rural township situated approximately 20 kilometers east of the regional city of Bendigo in Victoria. Registered in June 2023, the project covers 55 hectares of land that was previously used for agricultural purposes, such as grazing or cropping, for at least five years prior to the project's commencement.
Environmental planting projects under this methodology involve establishing permanent plantings of mixed native tree species, such as eucalypts and acacias, native to the local area. To generate Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs), the planting must be established at a density sufficient to reach "forest cover" status, which typically requires a stocking density of at least 200 stems per hectare with the potential to achieve 20% crown cover and a height of 2 meters.
The Axedale region is characterized by a temperate climate with a moderate average annual rainfall of approximately 580mm, experiencing wet winters and dry summers. The local terrain, influenced by the nearby Campaspe River, generally consists of sandy loams and clay loam soils which support the region's mix of farming, vineyards, and remnant bushland.
This project has been nominated for a 25-year permanence period, ensuring the carbon stored in the vegetation is maintained for at least a quarter of a century. The proponent, Jitesh Prasad, appears to be a private landholder managing this reforestation effort on their property.
