Project Information:

Courtfield Environmental Planting Project is an environmental planting project located approximately 16km northwest of Kyogle in northern New South Wales. It was registered in December 2022 and covers 201.08 hectares.

Environmental planting projects under the FullCAM methodology involve establishing permanent plantings of mixed native tree or mallee species. Standard requirements mandate that these trees be planted on land predominantly used for agricultural purposes, such as grazing or cropping, for at least five years prior to commencement to restore permanent forest cover.

The Kyogle region's land use is historically dedicated to agricultural pursuits such as cattle grazing and forestry operations. The area experiences a subtropical climate and is considered a high rainfall zone. Soils in the district are typically characterised by fertile alluvials and sodic soils.

This project was established by Courtfield (NSW) Pty Ltd, in partnership with project agent Climate Friendly Pty Ltd, to transition historic agricultural land into native forest. The proponent has notably committed to a 100-year permanence period extending to the year 2125, ensuring that the mix of locally native tree species will provide long-lasting biodiversity and carbon sequestration benefits.
