Paradise Creek Carbon Project

Project Information:

Paradise Creek Carbon Project is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 35km southeast of Inverell in the New England region of NSW. It was registered in September 2022 and covers 2341.25ha.

Soil carbon projects using the measurement and models methodology involve changing agricultural management practices to build and store carbon in the soil. Standard requirements include establishing a measured baseline carbon level and implementing new eligible land management activities. For this project, the primary activities include altering the stocking rate, duration, or intensity of grazing to promote vegetation cover and improve overall soil health.

The Inverell area is broadly known for livestock farming, predominantly grazing cattle and sheep, as well as mixed cropping operations. The region is considered to have moderate, summer-dominant rainfall, and the local soils are generally highly fertile deep black cracking clays (Vertosols) and structured red clay loams.

Interestingly, the project underwent a variation in July 2025 to officially remove some listed areas from its active boundary. The project proponent, Wyelba Pty Limited, operates alongside specialist carbon service provider Carbon Link Operations. Wyelba Pty Limited is historically associated with Wilmot Cattle Co., a major entity in the regenerative agriculture space, which previously held another carbon project in the region that was voluntarily revoked in late 2024.
