RC Green Transport Project

Project Information:

The RC Green Transport Project is a transport-based emissions reduction project managed by R.C. Sadleir Pty Limited. Unlike land-based sequestration projects, this initiative does not occupy a single fixed geographical area. Instead, it operates across the proponent's logistics network, which utilizes a fleet of Light Vehicles, Rigid Trucks, and Articulated Trucks. While the project activities, modifying and replacing vehicles, occur wherever the fleet operates, the proponent is headquartered in Perth, Western Australia. R.C. Sadleir is a key subsidiary of the Lionel Samson Sadleirs Group, a historic logistics enterprise with operations spanning across Australia.

Registered in August 2022, the project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Land and Sea Transport) Methodology Determination 2015. This methodology credits abatement generated by reducing the emissions intensity of transport operations. For this specific project, abatement is achieved by aggregating individual vehicles and implementing changes such as switching energy sources (e.g., fuel switching), modifying existing vehicles for efficiency, or replacing older heavy vehicles with low-emission alternatives.

Because the project relies on mobile assets rather than land management, standard environmental metrics such as soil composition and rainfall classification are not applicable. The "operating environment" is instead the Australian logistics sector, where the project aims to lower the carbon footprint of freight transport. An interesting note regarding the proponent is its lineage: R.C. Sadleir is part of the Lionel Samson Sadleirs Group, which is widely recognized as Western Australia’s oldest family-owned business, established in 1829. The project lists Super Smart Energy Pty Ltd as a participant, a specialized energy advisory firm founded by Adam Gangemi that assists WA businesses with decarbonization strategies.
