Corella Human Induced Regeneration Project (Revoked)

Project Information:
Corella Human Induced Regeneration Project (Revoked) is a carbon sequestration initiative located on the "Corella" property, approximately 80 kilometers northeast of Bourke and 83 kilometers northwest of Brewarrina in the rangelands of New South Wales. Registered in June 2022, the project covered a substantial area of 9,585 hectares. However, the project's declaration was revoked in August 2025, meaning it is no longer an active participant in the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) scheme.
The project operated under the Human-Induced Regeneration (HIR) methodology, which is designed to regenerate native forests on land where vegetation has been suppressed, typically by livestock or feral animals. By managing the timing and extent of grazing and controlling feral pests, the project aimed to allow native species, such as Coolabah, Box, Gidgee, and Brigalow, to regenerate from in-situ seed sources like rootstock and lignotubers. To generate credits, the land must transition from having suppressed regrowth to achieving forest cover.
The Bourke region is characterized by a semi-arid climate with irregular rainfall, historically supporting extensive grazing of sheep and cattle. The landscape at the "Corella" property features a mix of soil types, including open black and chocolate soils blended with softer red earths, which sustain native clovers and grasses alongside the timbered areas. The project proponent, Terra Carbon Pty Limited, is a subsidiary of the GreenCollar Group, a prominent environmental markets developer in Australia. The revocation under Section 30 of the CFI Rule indicates a voluntary cancellation initiated by the proponent, which can occur for various strategic reasons, such as property sales or methodology reassessments.
