Landari PPPA 7

Project Information:
Landari PPPA 7 is a plantation forestry project located in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, approximately 30km northeast of the major regional city of Bathurst. Registered on May 9, 2022, the project covers a substantial area of 361.32 hectares. The project site sits near the locality of Wattle Flat, an area historically known for gold mining but currently dominated by grazing (sheep and cattle) and forestry operations.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022. Unlike environmental plantings which are designed for permanent conservation, this methodology focuses on establishing new plantation forests for commercial harvesting. The project generates carbon credits (ACCUs) by sequestering carbon in the trees as they grow and, following harvest, in the long-term storage of wood products. The "new plantation" classification implies the land has not been a plantation forest for at least seven years prior to the project's commencement.
Environmentally, the Bathurst and Wattle Flat region is characterized by a temperate climate with distinct seasons. The area typically receives moderate annual rainfall ranging between 600mm and 800mm, supporting both pasture and timber growth. The soils in this part of the Central Tablelands are variable, often consisting of granite-derived loams, clays, and red or yellow podzolic soils, which are generally suitable for forestry species such as Pinus radiata (radiata pine) provided depth and drainage are adequate.
An interesting administrative note for this project is the change in proponent. Originally registered under Landari Pty Ltd, the project proponent was varied to Group Energy Pty Ltd in early 2023. The "Landari" name appears to be part of a wider portfolio of carbon assets (e.g., Landari PPPA 1, Landari Sapphire) managed or aggregated by Group Energy. As of the latest public data, the project has a crediting period running until 2047, ensuring a long-term commitment to forestry management on the site.
