Morrison Carbon Project 1

Project Information:
Morrison Carbon Project 1 is a soil carbon project located roughly 5km northwest of Goomalling in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. It was registered in April 2022 and covers a project area of 189.85 ha.
Soil carbon projects operating under the Measurement and Models methodology involve altering agricultural management practices to increase the amount of carbon stored in the soil over time. Standard requirements include conducting rigorous baseline soil testing to measure initial carbon levels, implementing new eligible management activities, and performing regular subsequent soil sampling combined with modelling to verify the volume of carbon sequestration.
The Goomalling area is situated within the WA Wheatbelt, a region highly regarded for its broadacre cropping (such as wheat, barley, and canola) and sheep grazing operations. The local climate is considered semi-arid with low winter-dominant rainfall, averaging around 360mm annually. Soils in this specific area typically range from deep yellow and poor white sands to heavy grey clays.
This project was established to increase soil carbon within an active agricultural system. To achieve this, the project incorporates re-establishing or rejuvenating pasture through targeted seeding or pasture cropping. It also involves strategically altering the stocking rate, as well as the duration and intensity of grazing, to promote better vegetation cover and improve overall soil health. The proponent, AgriProve Solutions Pty Ltd, is a major developer in the Australian soil carbon market, specializing in helping farmers transition to regenerative management systems to generate carbon credits while simultaneously building drought-resilient soils.
