Bryant Carbon Project 1

Project Information:
Bryant Carbon Project 1 is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the Mackay Regional local government area of Queensland, approximately 40km northwest of Mackay. Registered in March 2022, the project covers a project area of roughly 279 hectares. The site is situated in the tropical coastal hinterland, a region characterized by high seasonal rainfall and a mix of agricultural land uses, predominantly cattle grazing and sugar cane cultivation on the coastal flats.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models) Methodology Determination 2021. This methodology credits the increases in soil organic carbon stocks resulting from changes in land management. Specifically, this project aims to build soil carbon by establishing or rejuvenating pastures, potentially converting cropland or fallow land into permanent pasture, and implementing strategic grazing management to improve soil health and vegetation cover.
By altering stocking rates and seeding new pastures, the project seeks to enhance the photosynthetic capacity of the land, thereby drawing more carbon from the atmosphere into the soil profile. The region's tropical climate and generally fertile soils (often alluvial or clay-based in agricultural zones) provide a conducive environment for rapid biomass growth, which is critical for successful soil carbon sequestration. The project is managed by Agriprove Solutions, a prominent soil carbon project developer in Australia.
