Chambers Carbon Project

Project Information:

Chambers Carbon Project is a soil carbon sequestration project located near Tingoora, approximately 20km north of the major town of Kingaroy in Queensland’s South Burnett region. Registered in November 2021, the project covers roughly 357 hectares of agricultural land. The surrounding South Burnett region is a well-known mixed farming belt, supporting diverse land uses including cattle grazing, broadacre cropping, famous for peanuts and navy beans, and pork production.

The project operates under the 2018 Soil Carbon methodology, which rewards landholders for increasing soil organic carbon levels through improved management practices. Specific activities for this project include rejuvenating pastures through seeding, applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address nutrient deficiencies, and altering grazing intensity or duration. These changes are designed to boost plant growth and root biomass, thereby drawing more carbon from the atmosphere into the soil profile.

Environmentally, the location sits within a sub-tropical climate zone characterized by summer-dominant rainfall, averaging approximately 780mm annually. The soils in this district are highly regarded for agriculture, consisting largely of the region's iconic Red Ferrosols (red volcanic earths) and productive heavy clays (Vertosols), which provide a fertile base for the pasture establishment activities outlined in the project plan. The project is facilitated by Agriprove, a prominent soil carbon project developer in Australia.
