Oklahoma Station MARH Environmental Planting Project

Project Information:
Oklahoma Station MARH Environmental Planting Project is a permanent environmental planting project located approximately 35km south-east of the small rural village of Nymagee in the Bogan Shire of New South Wales. Registered in January 2022, the project covers a substantial area of 606 hectares within the semi-arid rangelands of the Cobar Peneplain bioregion. This area is historically known for copper mining and grazing, and is famously associated with the sheep station "The Overflow," featured in Banjo Paterson's poetry, which is situated in the immediate vicinity of this project.
The project operates under the "Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings" methodology, utilizing the FullCAM model to calculate carbon sequestration. This specific method involves establishing a mix of native tree species, such as Mallee, Box, and Kurrajong, on land previously cleared for agriculture (likely grazing or marginal cropping) for at least five years. To generate Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs), the planting must achieve a forest cover density, typically requiring at least 200 stems per hectare, and remain permanent for a period of 25 or 100 years (this project has nominated 100 years).
The local environment is characterized by Red Chromosols and red loam soils, typical of the "red dirt" country in western NSW. The region receives low to moderate rainfall, averaging between 350mm and 400mm annually, making moisture retention strategies critical for seedling survival. The project proponent, Flowenol Mngt Pty. Ltd. as Trustee for the Flowenol Fund S, appears to manage this property as part of an aggregation; public records link "Oklahoma" with "Glen Ailee Station" in other carbon abatement contracts, suggesting a broader portfolio of regeneration assets managed by the same investment group.
