Project Information:

Daly Pty Ltd is a soil carbon project located roughly 20km east of the township of Young, in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales. Registered in June 2021, the project covers approximately 1,175 hectares of agricultural land, situated within the Hilltops Council area. The region is well-known for its mixed farming operations, combining cropping (canola, cereals) with livestock grazing, and is famously celebrated as the "Cherry Capital of Australia."

The project operates under the Measurement of Soil Carbon Sequestration in Agricultural Systems (2018) methodology. This method requires the proponent to physically sample and measure soil carbon levels to establish a baseline, and then implement new management activities designed to increase those levels over time. Credits (ACCUs) are issued based on the measured increase in soil carbon stocks. For this specific project, the activities involve re-establishing or rejuvenating pastures through seeding and altering the stocking rate, duration, and intensity of grazing to encourage soil health and carbon retention.

Environmentally, the Young region typically experiences a temperate climate with an average annual rainfall of approximately 650mm, which is often winter-dominant. The soils in this specific locality are diverse, often characterized as red granite-derived soils, including Rudosols (stony), Kandosols (uniform earths), and Chromosols (texture-contrast). The project proponents, the Daly family (operating as Daly Pty Ltd), are prominent figures in the regenerative agriculture space. They manage the property "Milgadara" and have gained recognition for their transition from conventional chemical farming to "biological farming," utilizing humus compost and mineral balancing to restore landscape function.
