Project Information:
Rogers Livestock Pty Ltd is a soil carbon project located approximately 15km to 55km northeast of Armidale in the New England region of NSW. It was registered in March 2021 and covers 1,873.27ha.
Soil carbon projects using the Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models methodology involve undertaking new or materially different agricultural management activities to increase the amount of carbon stored in the soil. Standard requirements include establishing baseline carbon levels through physical soil sampling and using a hybrid approach of ongoing soil measurements and modelling to estimate carbon sequestration over time.
The Armidale and New England area is widely known for livestock grazing operations (primarily cattle and sheep) and forestry. The region is generally considered to have moderate to high rainfall, and local soils are typically composed of rich basalt and granitic/trap types.
This project was set up to increase soil carbon in the agricultural system by applying nutrients to the land in the form of a synthetic or non-synthetic fertiliser to address a material deficiency. The project initially commenced under the 2018 methodology but was transitioned to the updated 2021 soil carbon methodology in December 2022. The proponent is supported by project agent Climate Friendly Pty Ltd, and in January 2026, the project area was varied to remove some of the previously listed lands.
