Project Information:

Rogers Livestock Pty Ltd is a soil carbon project located approximately 15 to 55km east and north-east of Armidale in the Northern Tablelands region of NSW. It was registered in March 2021 and originally covered 1,873.27ha, though a variation in January 2026 saw some listed areas removed from the project bounds.

Soil carbon projects under the Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models methodology involve changing agricultural land management practices to increase the amount of carbon stored in the soil. These carbon gains are then estimated using a combination of direct soil sampling and physical modelling. Specifically, this project aims to increase soil carbon by applying nutrients to the land in the form of synthetic or non-synthetic fertiliser to address material soil deficiencies.

The Armidale region is heavily utilised for primary agricultural production, predominantly beef cattle and sheep grazing. The area features a cool temperate climate with summer-dominant high rainfall averaging approximately 790mm annually. Soils across the Northern Tablelands generally consist of fertile basalts, clays, and lighter granite-derived sandy loams.

An interesting note is that the project is supported by the major carbon service provider Climate Friendly Pty Ltd, who acts as the project agent. Additionally, the project transitioned its methodology on 19 December 2022, shifting from the older 2018 soil carbon measurement method to the updated 2021 measurement and models method.
