Project Information:
Climate Solutions- Actionable Clean Transport (CS-ACT) (Revoked) is a transport emissions reduction project that operated on a nationwide basis across Australia rather than at a single fixed location. Registered in November 2020 by Corporate Carbon Advisory Pty Ltd, the project was designed to aggregate a "group of vehicles" comprising both land vehicles and marine vessels. The project was voluntarily revoked in February 2024 under Section 30 of the CFI Rule.
The project operated under the Carbon Farming Initiative-Land and Sea Transport methodology. This framework allows proponents to earn Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) by reducing the emissions intensity of their transport operations. Standard requirements for this project type involve calculating the emissions per unit of service (such as per kilometre or tonne-kilometre) and demonstrating a reduction through activities like replacing aging fleets with efficient models, modifying engines, switching to lower-emission fuel sources, or optimizing operational logistics.
Given the mobile nature of the project assets, which likely operated across various transport routes throughout the country, specific environmental conditions such as rainfall zones and soil types are not applicable. Unlike land-based carbon projects that rely on biosequestration in soil or vegetation, this project focused on mechanical and operational efficiency within the transport sector.
This project is a prime example of an "aggregated" project, where a proponent like Corporate Carbon manages the administrative burden for a fleet of vehicles, potentially from multiple operators, to generate credits at scale. The revocation suggests the project was closed early, a common occurrence if a project is consolidated into another or if the administrative costs outweigh the credit generation.
