Page Carbon Project

Project Information:

The Page Carbon Project is a soil carbon sequestration project located near Tintaldra, approximately 20km north of Corryong in the Upper Murray region of Victoria. Registered in November 2020, the project covers 66 hectares of agricultural land situated just south of the Murray River.

The Upper Murray region is widely recognized for its high-rainfall grazing systems, predominantly supporting beef cattle and dairy operations. The area typically experiences hot summers and wet winters, with annual rainfall often exceeding 700mm. Soils in this river valley location are generally fertile alluvial loams and clays, while the surrounding slopes often feature sandy loams derived from granite or sedimentary rock.

Operated by Agriprove Solutions, the project aims to increase soil organic carbon levels by re-establishing or rejuvenating pastures through seeding. By improving pasture biomass and managing grazing pressure, the project seeks to sequester atmospheric carbon into the soil profile. Originally registered under the 2018 Measurement method, the project transitioned to the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models) Methodology Determination 2021 in April 2025. This methodology allows for a hybrid approach of physical soil sampling and modelling to estimate carbon abatement over the project's 25-year crediting period.
