Landari PPPA 3

Project Information:

Landari PPPA 3 is a commercial plantation forestry project located in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales. The project is aggregated across multiple properties dispersed throughout the Oberon, Bathurst Regional, and Cabonne local government areas. Specific sites include land approximately 20km southeast of Bathurst, areas near Crookwell, and properties south of Orange near Millthorpe. Registered on December 11, 2020, the project covers a total area of approximately 1,034 hectares.

The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative-Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022. This methodology credits the carbon sequestered by establishing new plantation forests on land that has been clear of forest for at least seven years. As a Schedule 1 activity ("Establishment of a new plantation forest"), the project allows for the commercial harvesting of timber products, such as sawlogs and pulpwood, while generating Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) for the long-term storage of carbon in the trees.

The Central Tablelands region is a primary hub for softwood forestry in Australia, particularly for Pinus radiata. The area is characterized by a cool temperate climate with reliable, often high, rainfall (ranging from 700mm to over 900mm annually in parts of Oberon). The soils in these locations are typically fertile, derived from basalt or granite, and often consist of well-drained loams and clays suitable for supporting dense timber plantations.

Originally developed by Landari Pty Ltd, the project proponent changed to Group Energy Pty Ltd in early 2023. The project name "PPPA" likely refers to "Plantation Pine Products Australia," aligning with the region's strong pine forestry industry. The project has undergone several administrative variations, including the addition of new land areas in 2021 and a methodology upgrade in 2025.
