Landari PPPA-2 (Revoked)

Project Information:
Landari PPPA-2 (Revoked) is a Plantation Forestry project located near the village of Rockley, approximately 35 kilometers south of Bathurst in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales. Registered in March 2020, the project covered an area of 590.28 hectares before its revocation in February 2022.
The project operated under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative-Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2017. This methodology involves establishing new plantation forests or converting short-rotation plantations to long-rotation systems to sequester carbon in trees and wood products. Unlike environmental plantings, this method permits commercial harvesting, acknowledging that carbon is stored in the wood products post-harvest. The specific activity for this project was the establishment of a new plantation forest, likely intended for softwood timber production given the proximity to the major timber processing hub in Oberon.
The Central Tablelands region is characterized by a cool temperate climate with reliable rainfall, typically ranging between 650mm and 800mm annually in the Rockley area, making it highly suitable for forestry and grazing. The local landscape features undulating hills with soils generally derived from Silurian volcanics and sediments, often presenting as fertile clay loams or granitic soils.
Landari Pty Ltd, the proponent, is an Australian-based forestry and carbon consulting firm that specializes in developing land-sector projects. The project was revoked on February 5, 2022, under section 30 of the CFI Act following a restructure under section 57. In the context of the ACCU scheme, a section 57 restructure typically involves varying the project area, such as splitting a project or merging it with another, suggesting the revocation was an administrative reorganization rather than a compliance failure.
