NG Energy Efficiency Optimisation Project (Revoked)
ERF135317
Project Information:
NG Energy Efficiency Optimisation Project (Revoked) was an aggregated energy efficiency project operating on a nationwide basis across Australia. Registered in August 2019, the project was designed to encompass various industrial and commercial sites rather than a single geographic location. Because the project is listed with a "Nation Wide" location status in the Clean Energy Regulator's register, specific details regarding a nearest town, regional land use, or local environmental conditions (such as rainfall and soil types) are not applicable.
The project utilized the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Industrial Equipment Upgrades) Methodology Determination 2018. This methodology credits emissions reductions achieved by improving the energy efficiency of industrial equipment. Eligible activities for this project were extensive, ranging from upgrading boilers, HVAC systems, and lighting to installing variable speed drives and modifying control systems. The goal was to reduce electricity or fuel consumption against a calculated baseline, generating Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) for the abatement.
Notable for its broad scope, the project was managed by Northmore Gordon Pty Ltd, a prominent energy and environmental certificate consultancy. The project was voluntarily revoked on November 3, 2023, under Section 30 of the CFI Rule, which allows proponents to withdraw a project if they choose to cease participation or transfer activities to other schemes. This revocation occurred midway through its intended crediting period, which was originally set to run until May 2027.
