NG Energy Efficiency Optimisation Project (Revoked)

Project Information:

NG Energy Efficiency Optimisation Project (Revoked) is an industrial energy efficiency project managed by Northmore Gordon Pty Ltd. Unlike land-based carbon projects, this initiative was registered with a "Nation Wide" scope rather than a specific geographic location. It was registered in August 2019 and was designed to aggregate energy savings from various industrial sites across Australia.

The project operated under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Industrial Equipment Upgrades) Methodology Determination 2018. This methodology provides a framework for crediting emissions reductions achieved by improving the energy efficiency of industrial equipment. Typical activities under this method include upgrading boilers, installing variable speed drives, optimizing HVAC systems, and replacing inefficient motors or lighting. By reducing electricity or fuel consumption, these upgrades lower the operational emissions of industrial facilities.

On November 3, 2023, the project was revoked under section 30 of the CFI Rule. This section of the legislative rule allows for the voluntary revocation of a project declaration, typically in instances where the project has not yet been issued any Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs). As an industrial project focused on the built environment, standard environmental metrics such as rainfall and soil type are not applicable. Northmore Gordon is a prominent Australian energy consultancy known for managing environmental certificates, suggesting this project was likely an aggregation vehicle for their client base that was closed prior to credit issuance.
