Project Information:
DAC-2019-01 (Revoked) is a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth project located in the Balonne Shire of South West Queensland, approximately 60km south of Bollon and 100km west of Dirranbandi. Registered in July 2019, the project covers 2,625 hectares of pastoral land near the Culgoa River floodplain.
The project operates under the Native Forest from Managed Regrowth (NFMR) methodology, which credits landholders for regenerating native forest on land that was previously cleared for grazing. The core activity involves stopping the mechanical or chemical suppression of regrowth, allowing vegetation to return to forest cover. To be eligible, the land must have been cleared at least once in the past and have the potential to reach forest density (20% canopy cover) through assisted regeneration.
The Balonne region is a semi-arid environment characterized by grazing (sheep and cattle) and dryland cropping. The area typically experiences low to moderate rainfall (approximately 400-500mm annually) and features soils ranging from grey cracking clays on floodplains to red earths in the Mulga lands.
Notable for its revocation on October 21, 2025, the project was cancelled under Section 30 of the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Rule 2015, which indicates a voluntary revocation application by the proponent. The project was associated with Graham Kenny and the "DAC" prefix likely refers to Devine Agribusiness Carbon, a developer active in the region.
