Fish Creek Carbon Project

Fish Creek Carbon Project is a soil carbon project located near the township of Fish Creek in the South Gippsland region of Victoria. It was registered on October 10, 2018, and covers an area of 56.03 hectares.

Soil carbon projects under the Sequestering Carbon in Soils in Grazing Systems methodology involve storing carbon in agricultural soils by adopting new or materially different land management practices. Standard requirements include establishing a baseline carbon level through rigorous soil sampling, implementing eligible activities, such as adjusting stocking density, managing pasture, or undertaking pasture cropping, and conducting subsequent soil testing over the permanence period to verify the net increase in sequestered soil carbon.

The South Gippsland region is highly valued for its agricultural productivity, primarily supporting grazing systems for the strong dairy and beef industries. The area is known for its high rainfall climate. Soils in the broader Fish Creek and West Gippsland area are generally characterised by Brown Kurosols and Tenosols.

This project was established to increase carbon in the soil profile of the grazing system by actively rejuvenating pastures. The specifically registered project activities include managing grazing, managing pasture, and undertaking pasture cropping. Additionally, in May 2025, the project recorded a participant name variation, transitioning the main project proponent from Corporate Carbon Solutions Pty Ltd to AGRIPROVE SOLUTIONS CO NO.2 PTY LTD, with Agriprove Pty Ltd continuing to serve as the project agent.
