Project Information:

2019 AGE CLASS, LIMESTONE PLANTATIONS is a plantation forestry project located in the West Wimmera region of Victoria, approximately 70km northeast of Mount Gambier. It was registered in May 2018 and originally covered 1258.24 ha.

Plantation forestry projects involve sequestering carbon by establishing new plantations, maintaining existing ones, or converting short-rotation plantation forests into long-rotation plantation forests for the commercial harvesting of wood products.

The West Wimmera and Green Triangle area is known for intense commercial timber operations, alongside sheep and cattle grazing and viticulture. The area typically experiences high winter-dominant rainfall and the soils are generally formed over a limestone base, featuring sandy loams, clays, and terra rossa.

This project was specifically set up to sequester carbon by converting an existing short-term rotation plantation forest to a long-term rotation forest. In April 2021, the project's overall size was varied to remove certain areas of land. In May 2025, the proponent was officially updated from The Trust Company (PTAL) Limited as trustee for ANZFOF2 Sub 1 to OneFortyOne Plantations Pty Ltd. OneFortyOne is a major forestry operator in the region and is actively involved in other sustainable initiatives, such as a partnership to supply forestry residue biomass for renewable methanol production.
