Project Information:

UE Energy Reduction Project (Revoked) was an energy efficiency project managed by United Energy Distribution Pty Limited, targeting their distribution network across east and south-east Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. Registered in February 2017, the project operated within a highly urbanized and suburban landscape, distinct from typical land-based carbon projects. The region is characterized by high-density residential and commercial land use, extending south into the semi-rural and coastal environments of the Mornington Peninsula, which typically experiences a temperate climate with sandy loam and clay soils.

The project utilized the Aggregated Small Energy Users methodology, which allows proponents to bundle energy savings from a large group of small users, such as households and small businesses, to generate carbon credits. Under this method, a "treatment" group receives energy-saving interventions (like equipment upgrades or behavioral advice) while a "control" group does not, allowing the project to statistically prove the reduction in emissions. The project's activities were listed as "Treatment - other," suggesting a specific customized intervention was planned or implemented. However, the project was voluntarily revoked in November 2020 under Section 30 of the CFI Rule, meaning the proponent chose to withdraw the project, likely before the crediting period concluded.
