Energy Efficient Lighting Project

Project Information:
Energy Efficient Lighting Project is an energy efficiency project located across various commercial and public facilities nationwide in Australia. It was registered in March 2016 and operates across multiple distributed indoor sites, meaning it does not have a single defined project area size in hectares.
Commercial and public lighting projects involve reducing greenhouse gas emissions by modifying, replacing, or supplementing existing lighting systems with more energy-efficient technologies to lower grid electricity consumption.
Because the project is distributed nationwide across various built environments, it does not have a single nearest major town. Similarly, traditional regional agricultural land uses, typical rainfall classifications, and soil types are not applicable to these indoor carbon abatement activities, as the "environment" consists entirely of commercial infrastructure.
This project was set up by Certify Energy Pty Ltd to perform lighting upgrades using LED luminaires across a range of serviced areas, with a crediting period running from August 2017 to July 2024. Interestingly, public records show that Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) generated from this project have been voluntarily surrendered by corporate entities, such as Abacus Property Services, to offset emissions and achieve sustainability targets for commercial properties like 51 Allara Street in Canberra.
