EA 1003 High Efficiency Refrigerated Cabinets (Revoked)

EA 1003 High Efficiency Refrigerated Cabinets is a revoked energy efficiency project located nationwide across various commercial supermarket sites in Australia. It was registered in May 2016. Because it is a distributed commercial appliances project, it does not have a defined area size, specific coordinates, or a nearest major town, and it operates within commercial retail land uses rather than rural or agricultural settings.

High Efficiency Commercial Appliances projects involve reducing grid electricity consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by installing high-efficiency commercial equipment. For this project, the standard activities involved installing refrigerated display cabinets in supermarkets that perform significantly better than baseline energy standards, thus reducing overall energy demand.

Given that the project's activities take place entirely within built indoor commercial environments distributed across the country, traditional environmental conditions such as rainfall classifications and specific soil types are not applicable.

The project was officially revoked on June 20, 2022, under section 32 of the CFI Rule, which covers the administrative or voluntary revocation of a project's registration. Outside of the ACCU scheme, the project proponent, Expert Abatement Pty Ltd, is active in the NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS). A 2022-23 IPART annual report revealed that an audit of the company's refrigeration and cooling implementations found an 8% error rate due to using incorrect Minimum Energy Performance Standards parameters, leading to an improper over-creation of 791 Energy Savings Certificates.
