Industrial Carbon Emissions Reduction

ERF102191

Project Information:

Industrial Carbon Emissions Reduction (ERF102191) is an aggregated industrial energy efficiency project that operates across multiple locations nationwide in Australia rather than at a single geographic site. Registered in October 2015 by Corporate Carbon Solutions Pty Ltd, this project bundles together various energy-saving activities from different industrial operators into a single carbon project. Because it is an aggregated project covering diverse sites, ranging from manufacturing plants and logistics hubs to retail outlets and telecommunications facilities, there is no single set of coordinates, nearest town, or specific regional designation.

The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Industrial Electricity and Fuel Efficiency) Methodology Determination 2015. This methodology credits the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions achieved by improving the efficiency of energy-consuming equipment. Unlike land-based carbon projects where rainfall and soil types are critical, the "environment" here is the industrial facility itself. Activities involve upgrading or replacing equipment such as boilers, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, lighting, and air compressors.

By calculating the difference between the baseline energy use and the post-upgrade efficiency, the project generates Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs). Specific examples of activities under this project identifier include installing variable speed drives (VSDs) for water distribution corporations, upgrading HVAC systems for telecommunications providers, and implementing boiler improvements in sugar production facilities. The project's primary goal is to lower electricity and fuel consumption across these varied Australian industries.
