Project Information:

Revegetation Avoca (Revoked) is an environmental planting project located approximately 35km southwest of West Wyalong in the Riverina region of New South Wales. Situated near the locality of Alleena and adjacent to the Buddigower Nature Reserve, the project covers roughly 1,102 hectares. It was registered in July 2015 and operates on a property named "Avoca" which lies within Wiradjuri Country.

The project utilizes the "Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings-FullCAM" methodology, which involves establishing permanent native forest cover on land previously cleared for agriculture. Prior to Greenfleet’s acquisition and restoration efforts, the site was predominantly used for wheat and canola cropping, as well as sheep production. The planting activities focused on restoring the critically endangered "Mallee and Mallee-Broombush dominated woodland" ecosystem, incorporating 45 native species such as White Mallee (Eucalyptus dumosa), Green Mallee (Eucalyptus viridis), and various wattles.

Environmentally, the region is classified as semi-arid with a mean annual rainfall of approximately 490mm. The landscape is characterized by Red Chromosols and Kandosols (red earths), which are typical of the Central West Slopes and support the native Mallee vegetation well. Although the project was voluntarily revoked from the ACCU scheme in May 2020 under Section 30 of the CFI Rule, the proponent, Greenfleet, continues to manage the site as a carbon offset. The forest remains legally protected for up to 100 years, serving as a vital habitat corridor for local wildlife, including the Shy Heathwren and Brown Treecreeper.
