Bibbaringa Revegetation Project (Revoked)
EOP100551
Project Information:
The Bibbaringa Revegetation Project (Revoked) was an environmental planting project located in the locality of Bowna, approximately 30 kilometers east of the major regional city of Albury, New South Wales. Registered in May 2014, the project covered 68.48 hectares on the "Bibbaringa" property, a well-known site in the region dedicated to ecological beef cattle production and regenerative agriculture. The project operated for over a decade before being voluntarily revoked in September 2025.
The project employed the 2012 Carbon Farming methodology for permanent environmental plantings. This method requires establishing a mix of native tree species on land that has been cleared of forest for at least five years. The goal is to achieve permanent forest cover, typically requiring stocking densities sufficient to reach forest canopy potential, calculated using the CFI Reforestation Modelling Tool.
Situated on the South West Slopes of New South Wales, the region generally receives moderate to high rainfall (approximately 600-800mm annually), supporting productive grazing and cropping systems. The local environment at Bibbaringa is characterized by undulating hills with soils that include granitic loams and clays; the property has historically implemented Natural Sequence Farming techniques to combat soil erosion and improve water retention in the landscape.
A notable aspect of this project is its location on the Bibbaringa property, which is owned and managed by Gillian Sanbrook. The property serves as a demonstration site for regenerative farming, holistic management, and art-science collaborations (such as the Earth Canvas project). The project was revoked under Section 29 of the CFI Rule, which indicates a voluntary revocation by the proponent, Erolmate Pty Ltd (Trustee for the Taylor Family Trust). This allows the landholder to exit the carbon scheme, often to remove the encumbrance from the land title or shift management strategies.
